(A collective songwriting experience. A dark and stormy night on a ranch in Arizona. One professional songwriter and six schmucks thrown together by circumstance and bonded forevermore.)
Standing in the middle of the chaos of my life
Got a rock upon my shoulder, the nightmares and doubt
Carrying my captain, the shame, the loss and fear
Gonna leave it all behind me, making my way out
I can see you waiting for me
And I know you understand me
As I’m
Putting down the darkness
Picking up the light
Putting down my burden
Time to make it right
The pain, the guilt, the hatred
That keeps me up at night
I can’t carry that around no more
I’m too tired for that fight
Putting down the darkness
Picking up the light
Skull-dragging rock bottom, I was praying for relief
The numbness in my mind, the wounds upon my soul
Didn’t know love, couldn’t feel love, not even for myself
Couldn’t live that way forever, that’s no way to grow old
All the raging – I had to stop it
Endless sorrow – I had to drop it
And so I’m
Putting down the darkness
` Picking up the light
Putting down my burden
Time to make it right
The pain, the guilt, the hatred
That keeps me up at night
I can’t carry that around no more
I’m too tired of that fight
Putting down the darkness
Picking up light
Break the chain
By many names
I want to live free
It stops with me
Putting down the darkness
` Picking up the light
Putting down my burden
Time to make it right
The pain, the guilt, the hatred
That keeps me up at night
I can’t carry that around no more
I’m too tired of that fight
Putting down the darkness
Picking up light
